May 29 has elapsed under the badge of Renault. The Renault Representative Office in Ukraine held a press conference dedicated to results of its activity in our country and to emergence of new Renault models in the Ukrainian expansion.

Renault plans to be not only an automotive competitor in Ukraine, but it is also going to take part in the formation of market trends. Today, Renault shares 4% of car imports to Ukraine.

This year, Renault has displayed 4 new models at the Motor Show. There are Renault Megane II, Vel Satis and Kangoo among them. The presence of 4 new brands proves the significance of SIA for the company.

All cars are adapted to the roads of Ukraine and service conditions.

This year, Renault opened the stand of Dacia, a motor vehicle manufacturer belonging to Renault Group. Now, Dacia is one of the most marketed brands in Ukraine.

Eurocar, Inc. is a sole importer of SKODA cars in Ukraine. Eurocar got this status owing to activity of the company in the Ukrainian market highly appraised by executives of Volkswagen Group at the yesterday's press conference.

Since its inception in 2001, Eurocar has promptly proved that Ukraine could produce the cars meeting the European quality standards and at the same time affordable to the Ukrainians in respect of price. Therefore, there is no wonder that the demand for Skoda cars constantly grows stipulating the production output of the company. The motor works is specialized in the production of Fabia and Octavia car models having put out almost 2 thousands units a year. Recently, Eurocar has proceeded to manufacture of Skoda Superb, which was an acknowledged winner of this year in the nomination The Best of Both, Quality and Price by results of All-Ukrainian action Car of the Year in Ukraine'2002.

The round table "Problems and Prospects of Motor Vehicle Manufacture in Ukraine" was held yesterday by All-Ukrainian Fund "The Pressmen Initiative" within SIA'2003. This event was fully devoted to the problems of heavy motor vehicle manufacture, in particular, to further development of AutoKrAZ Holding.

According to the President of the company Olexiy Kucherenko, the formerly powerful manufacturer of heavy duty trucks now have found itself displaced from bygone sales market. Although Russia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, India, Egypt, Vietnam and other countries remember and keep importing the KrAZ production, their imports, however, has declined. Therefore, the management of AutoKrAZ is anxiously expecting the planned adherence of Ukraine to the WTO that will make the Ukrainian motor vehicle manufacturers fight for existence under a higher competition with well-established European manufacturers.

According to Olexiy Kucherenko, the company now needs governmental and legislative support. However, the company team does not idle waiting for the interference from outside to solve the outstanding problems. In order to return the lost positions in the foreign markets, the AutoKrAZ, Inc. has been founded to promote the sale. Positive results of this step are obvious. The expected increase in sale will reach 20% as early as next year.

The company Psychea held a round table "Quality Problems of Motor Oils and Fuels". In the course of the round table, the problems of oil quality have been considered. The Deputy Director General of the company Olexander Karaulov noted that Ukraine would not adhere to corresponding European organizations until the quality of Ukrainian oils and fuels meet European standards.

Recently, the trends of development of refineries are connected with environmental monitoring. The whole world moves in this direction. The share of motor vehicles in the pollution of the environment amounts to 60%. This problem, first of all, is subject to legislative solution as it is done in EU.

Now, a new resolution of EU in respect of new standards for combustible and lubricating materials is being worked out. It is planned to convert automobiles to gas, ethanol and other biologically decaying substances. In Germany, for example, it is rapeseed oil; in England, they are going to refine oils used to fry potatoes.

Ukraine adopts new standards. However, Mr. Karaulov stated: "It is impossible to understand what new standards are adopted for. Every subsequent one repeats the previous with slight changes. In Europe, every standard has its term, and the refineries manage to upgrade their equipment for new standards within the specified term. And in Ukraine, all standards are termless. Moreover, there is no equipment at the gas stations measuring the content of hazardous substances in fuels.

The XJ presentation took place at the booth of the Jaguar's authorized partner in Ukraine, British Motors Ukraine.

Jaguar XJ displayed at the SIA'2003 belongs to the 7th generation of "Jaguars". In addition to 60% higher body rigidity due to application of aluminium, XJ got 40% lighter than its forerunner made of steel.

The new model exterior is strongly different from previous generation preserving, however, the spirit and style of luxury sedan. The new Jaguar got slightly longer and wider. Owing to prolonged wheelbase, the manufacturers managed to raise passenger comfort and design spacious and convenient interior.

The new Jaguar features 4.2 l V-type "figures-of eight", solid injection and supercharging. Aluminium 32-valve engine features 2x2 upper distribution shafts. Speed - 250 km/h, engine capacity - 400 hp.

Boghdan Investment & Industrial Holding displayed practically complete bus model line. Beside regular and undoubtedly most famous A-091 city bus, the visitors can see some new developments - coach and school bus modifications of the above bus. The popularity of A-091 is conditioned by excellent performance, in particular, by perfect handling ability, high capacity ISUZU engine, passengers' and driver's comfort.

The next generation of Boghdan displayed at the SIA'2003 is embodied in A-092. The bus is featuring Euro-3 engine that meets the highest European standards. Performance of this model raises a great interest in our country as well as in Russia and Czechia.

Boghdan A-144 is fully new phenomenon that has deserved a separate presentation. According to executives of the Holding, it is fundamentally new model of the medium-class 15-m city bus. This model has a higher safety; its front is equipped with additional frontal protection.
