International Motor Show was opened

Nobody doubts that the International SIA'2003 Motor Show is now one of the most scaled automotive events taking place in Ukraine. This year, the exhibition area has exceeded 50 thousand sq. m. The fact that the leaders of the state and very authoritative officers of the motor market came to its solemn opening is another evidence of the said.

There were among them: Executives of the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine headed by Minister Anatoly Mialytsa; Head of the State Tourism Administration and President of the Automotive Federation of Ukraine Valery Tsybukh; Chief of the Armament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Olexander Stetsenko; Deputies of the Kyiv Municipal Administration Ivan Saliy and Ivan Dankevitch; Deputy Secretary of State of the Tax Administration of Ukraine Anatoly Podoliaka; Deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine Leonid Guliayev; Head of the State Department of Oil, Gas and Refinery Industry of Ukraine Mykhailo Radchenko; President of Association of Ukrainian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers of Ukraine Vadim Liaschov; Director General of All-Ukrainian Association of Motor Importers and Dealers Oleg Nazarenko; Director General of the National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine" Sergiy Morshak; Military Attache of the Embassy of Poland in Ukraine Oleg Zemachkevitch; executives of motor vehicle manufacturing companies; Director of Autoexpo Nina Dyatlova.

On behalf of the President and the Government of Ukraine, the Minister of Industrial Policy of Ukraine Anatoly Mialytsa addressed himself to participants and guests of the Motor Show. "Now, the Ukrainian companies produce almost 27 thousand automobiles a year, - he stated, - this year, it is planned to double the output of automotive produce".

Executive of the Kyiv City Administration Ivan Saliy expressed his hope that not only the brilliance of motor shows comes to us from the West for according to him the main goal of this celebration is to manifest the intellectual resources of the nation and its engineering approach.

The Minister of Industrial Policy of Ukraine Anatoly Mialytsa was honored to open the Motor Show.

The joint press conference of the SIA Motor Show was held right after the official opening ceremony. Executives of the most renowned motor brand names in Ukraine such as BMW, CITROEN, RENAULT, PEUGEOT, MAZDA, VOLVO, VW, GAZ, and not popular in the least SAMSUNG took part in the press conference.

According to Olexander Timofeyev, Director General of AWT Bavaria, an authorized distributor for BMW in Ukraine, the fact that BMW built up its display in a separate pavilion proved the rise of authority of the Motor Show. The company first displayed BMW motorcycles at the SIA. As for cars, it represented the most famous in Europe the 5th and the 7th series. Besides, the visitors can see Z-4 officially represented in Ukraine only one month ago.

According to Vladislav Chervynsky, Chief of the Ukrautocenter Commercial Department, CITROEN displayed the whole car model line, having the highest volume of sales in Europe.C-5 with unique suspension will be a novelty for visitors.

The Autointernational Company displayed the world famous brand names MAZDA and SUZUKI. The legendary MAZDA 6 was awarded 46 times in over 30 countries of the world. The Ukrainian motorists also have a chance to see the winner. SUZUKU pleases, in particular, with conceptual Grand Vitara and unique motorbike.

According to RENAULT executives, the Motor Show is getting better every year and, therefore, they consider it an honour to present the eleven best cars, including the outstanding new MEGANE-2.

In turn, the VOLVO management in Ukraine hopes that the Motor Show will help the company display its achievements and promote freight vehicles recently being produced in Zelenograd, Russia to the Ukrainian market.

April 28 is the Day of AUTOVAZ. This company occupies the entire pavilion as well as displays some exhibits outdoors. AUTOVAZ held a press conference that enabled the attendees to get to know recent achievements of the company and its plans for the years to come.

Ukraine is one of the biggest foreign markets for AUTOVAZ. According to forecasts, about 55 thousand cars could be sold here in 2003. It is planned to produce the majority of them at the assembly facilities in Ukraine.

Rudolf Azurmanyan, Vice-president of the Ukrainian Motor Holding in Charge of Development, says: "the time shows that our AUTOVAZ-oriented cooperation pattern was correct. Stable production of VAZ cars at the Lutsk Motor Works and development of the same project at AutoZAZ enable AUTOVAZ to be positive in the market of Ukraine. In 2003, the presence of the AUTOVAZ produce amounts to at least 50 thousand cars. With the prospects associated with the development of assembly plants in Ukraine until 2006, the AUTOVAZ exports could rise up to 70 thousand cars. All that is possible thanks to high demand from the side of consumers".

RusAutobusProm incorporates 5 Russia's leading bus manufacturing companies, and now it is the fifth of the biggest bus manufacturers in Europe. RusAutobusProm designs and manufactures high performance buses: Pavlovsky Autobus, Inc. produces small-sized buses up to 7 m, Kurhan Bus Works, Inc. - medium-sized buses, Likin Autobus, Inc. makes a specialty of city buses, Holitsyn Bus Works, Inc. is focused on intercity and international conveyance buses. The company hopes that the show would help its low-cost and durable buses win the Ukrainian market especially as the company has good reasons to go ahead with confidence because according to Andriy Vasilyev, Director General of Pavlovsky Autobus, the number of buses produced will reach 10 thousand units.

In the morning, the presentation of Iveco Stralis Active Time and Active Day, Iveco Daily, Iveco Eurocargo took place. These trucks were first seen in Turin, and then they immediately tended to Ukraine.

The authorized dealer of Iveco in Ukraine held the event. It was officially declared that this year the company has fully renewed the entire model line. All existing models are available in the market of Ukraine.

The sale of new city capacity commercial vehicles Daily has begun in Ukraine. Iveco Daily is for those, who value the time. The vehicle is beautiful, light and manoeuvrable and at the same time powerful, economy and convenient for intercity conveyances.

The 2 Eurocargo vans covered with glass and transformable into passenger bus are displayed at SIA'2003.
